Rose - Intro to Trompe l'oeil 3D Effect
Rose - Trompe L'oeil - Fool the Eye
Have you seen paintings that look so three dimensional that you want to touch it to make sure it's really a painting? That's the trompe l'oeil effect, and even beginners can do it.
This is a simple lesson for beginner to intermediate students, using only three colors for more practice mixing and for great results.
You'll learn how to paint a pretty rose in this lesson, with such dark shadows and bright highlights that your viewers will wonder if it's real or a painting.
You can always add a background if you like - sheet music, your newspaper - you're only limited by your imagination.
During my photo-realistic stage, I painted a lot of trompe l'oeil, and those paintings were always attention getters. The sea shell lesson is also trompe l'oeil if you want more of this technique. Water drops are yet another, and you'll find the pdf for painting water drops included.
Hi, I'm Deb Watson.
My story is simple. I loved creating art from childhood, but was discouraged from pursuing art by my parents. So, I became a nurse, but kept painting.
I knew nothing about art, but taught myself over time and became a very successful artist, with hundreds of awards. Although my art and how to paint techniques are well known (in over a dozen books and online), I'm just a down to earth person.
I've always enjoyed teaching others how to paint with watercolor - sharing the joy!
Join me in your own personal journey into painting. My online lessons and zoom classes will teach you how to see and paint like an artist. No matter what your favorite subject is, you'll find it here - or email me your suggestions and I'll include a class in the future.
