Cat in a Window - 2 Part Lesson in How To Change or Fix a Watercolor
Easy Techniques for Distance and Changing Your Watercolor Paintings
Cat in a Window (Part 1 and Part 2) - Learn to Paint & Learn to Change
This lesson is packed with many easy techniques to make your landscapes more effective with less work.
Part 1 (Calico Cat) has tips for adding distance by combining wet on wet with wet on dry distant trees for a great effect, fog, and how those very important areas of shading change an amateurish looking window in a stylish one.
Part 2 (Gray Cat) takes the first painting and demonstrates how to 'erase' the cat to replace her with your own puss! Plus adding a floral pattern to the curtains without lots of tracing or painting.
Learn how to paint it.
Learn how to change it
And did I mention a suggestion of spider webs? This lesson has it all - painting a wide range of subjects and how to change watercolors, too!
Your Instructor
Hi, I'm Deb Watson - a self taught artist and long time watercolor teacher
My story is simple.
I loved drawing from childhood, but was discouraged from art as a waste of time. So, I became a nurse, worked at a lot of hospitals and raised a family. But I kept painting.
Over time, I became better at the realism I loved, and just kept working toward improving through painting and self-study. I've always enjoyed painting scenes from my life and small town community (which I call my Small Town America series).
My paintings are not usually famous or majestic subjects, often they're just everyday stuff I see around. But I see so much beauty there, and show it to the rest of the world by painting it.
Now, my watercolors have been in exhibits and won awards across the nation. Yet, it's when my art connects me to other people that it's really done what I wanted, and teaching certainly does that!
Happy Painting.
